Angell Manufacturing Company
(German language training)

"The Germaine Intercultural Center is an outstanding alternative to the more traditional methods of learning international languages. Each lesson is devoted to practical uses of the international language and is tailored to the individual needs of the student. In addition to learning a language, each student is educated as to the relevant culture.

We've been very pleased with our instruction, and have received compliments from our overseas business contacts. Our customers were very impressed with the fact that we have tried to learn their language.

Our sessions helped our key sales personnel better understand our customer's needs and have resulted in significant business."

(German/American cross-cultural training)

"Germaine Intercultural Center was extremely helpful in introducing our staff to the business and social practices of both Germany and Mexico. Not only were the sessions informative, but they were also timely in that they reflected recent changes in the respective cultures. We would not hesitate to utilize Germaine Intercultural Center in the future for similar needs.

Its director, Gail Horvath, is one of Dayton's unknown gems."

- Richard D. Anglin, Executive Vice-President, Angell Manufacturing Company

Biebel & French, LPA
(French & German translation)

"A substantial portion of our intellectual property law practice is international in scope. Although we have a network of foreign associates with whom we work in virtually every industrialized country in the world, we often have need on an urgent basis for a translation into English of a patent or other technical document, an opposing party's brief or a court order.

We know we can always depend on Germaine for a rapid turnaround of an accurate, locally colloquial translation at a reasonable price."

- Thomas Flynn, President

Chemineer
(Chinese language training)

"Business in China depends heavily on relationships or "guanxi." Most Americans do not make any attempt to learn Chinese, so, when one does, it is appreciated deeply and helps pave the way for developing such relationships. This is true even when the American is not yet fluent; just the attempt shows a commitment to the Chinese people and market.

I have certainly found my lessons at Germaine Intercultural Center to be worth the effort and investment in terms of our sales success in China, and it has been personally rewarding as well."

- Greg Benz, Industry Manager, Chemineer, Inc., a unit of Robbins and Myers

Dayton Progress Corporation
(Spanish language training)

"Learning through the Germaine system has been simple, fun and effective. It has improved our ability to work and communicate with customers and our distribution in Mexico. Courses at other institutions were helpful but didn't greatly enhance our ability to speak. I highly recommend the Germaine center. Theirs is the most effective method I have seen of learning to speak a foreign language."

- Dale Ross, Market Development Manager, Dayton Progress Corporation

Economic Development Corporation, Wayne County, Indiana
(German language training)

"I recently lead a trade and investment mission to Germany. During a formal dinner, which included our hosts as well as some of our potential business partners, they asked the twelve members of our delegation to introduce themselves. As they went around the room, I was the first American who attempted to speak German. (Gail Horvath had helped me prepare a speech prior to my departure.)

I spoke slowly and without notes. After each phrase, the audience applauded. And with each phrase of my self-introduction, the audience reaction grew louder and louder.

Finally, however, as I closed my comments, I forgot the last word. As I struggled to remember the adjective that I wanted to use, several of our German friends yelled out suggestions to help me finish my introduction. As I sat down, they gave me one thunderous final applause. And, after the dinner was over, several Germans made sure to tell me how much they enjoyed my effort to speak German.

With Gail's help I was able to break the ice with our hosts and pave the way for productive business discussions through my self-introduction in German."

- James N. Hizer, CEO, President, Economic Development Corporation, Wayne County, Indiana

Electra Form, Inc.
(Russian translation)

"Recently at Electra Form, Inc. we had a pressing need for translating service. One of our sales included the request that our maintenance and service manuals be translated into Russian. Germaine handled this perfectly. The interaction between Electra Form, Germaine and the translator went without a hitch. We kept in contact every step of the way through phone and e-mail.

The translated manuals (both print and disk) were delivered on time and were done very professionally. Our customer was very pleased that, with Germaine's contacts, they were able to use a translator that was very localized, that is, using the same local expressions that the customer used.

Highly recommended."

- Cristofer Morley, Electra Form, Inc.

Iams Company
(Dutch/American cross-cultural training)

"I think that the cross-cultural training provided by Germaine helped our organization to better understand our counterparts in the Netherlands and to work more effectively with them."

- Mike Jackson, Vice-president, Information Technology, The Iams Company

L.M. Berry Company
(Japanese language training)

"My instructor at Germaine had shared with me a Japanese phrase, 'itadakimasu,' which roughly translates to 'bon appetit' or 'enjoy the meal,' in my study session before leaving for a Japanese trip.

During a formal dinner, before the meal was served, I was expected to make a few comments before eating. After making a short statement and having it interpreted, I paused and said 'itadakimasu.' The room fell silent, which startled me at first, fearing I had made a mistake. Then the crowd clapped!

Apparently they were surprised I knew the phrase and were pleased I had made the effort to learn it and make them feel welcomed at the dinner. Doing homework pays off."

- Michael Taylor, Marketing Director

Longaberger Company
(interpretation)

"Our company was in a position to work with Germaine Intercultural Center for the purpose of relaying important company information to our Vietnamese-, Chinese-, Korean-, Laotian- and Russian-speaking employees. We were very pleased with Germaine. Their services proved to be valuable in terms of effectively communicating with our employees. They were highly skilled and professional, and a pleasure with whom to work. We would use Germaine's services again without hesitation."

- Melissa A. Mummey, Senior Human Resources Generalist, The Longaberger Company

Vernay International USA
(Spanish language training)

"In the Germaine system, the language learned is real and alive. Everything makes sense because of the conversational practice. Of course, you have to study on your own, too. The tapes are an essential part of the program."

- Gerard Stello, former director, Vernay International USA
